Trend report RAL COLOUR FEELING 2025+ under the title CARE + COLLABORATE

Trend colour palette 2025+ is complemented by a collection of materials for holistic designs

This year's RAL colour trend report COLOUR FEELING 2025+ stands for contemporary design in architecture and design. In trade, commerce and industry the 15 selected colour shades form an indispensable basis for 2025 and beyond. The colour palette responds to current issues, motivates change, supports project-oriented design and builds resonant relationships with the environment.

The current trend report by the Bonn colour experts focuses on circular economy and regenerative design. Thus, the palette for 2025+ builds on the past and looks to the future: 5 colours were deliberately adopted from the previous trend palette, two colours have already continued since 2021 and have established themselves as new classics. The colours can be flexibly combined with each other and thus enable adaptable design. At the same time, all colours originate from the RAL DESIGN SYSTEM plus, which allows them to be used contextually and systematically complemented.

According to RAL, the coming years will be characterised by familiar shapes and a colour palette of stabilising colours as well as vibrant, motivating nuances with high chroma. Relaxation areas are designed to be calming and tactile - alongside colourful focal points support creativity and communication. Complemented by fresh accents, earthy surface tones create vibrant combinations. At the same time, an inclusive, purposeful and sensitive colour selection leads to identification and well-being. A targeted and responsible colour selection based on the RAL Colour Trends for 2025+ can be emotionally and physically relieving and supportive.

New this year is the RAL Trendbox 2025+, which translates the current colours into 4 additional design-relevant materials. Thus, in addition to the standardised RAL single sheets, the box also contains plastic colour samples from Covestro, powder-coated metal from Tiger Coatings, carpet samples from Object Carpet and textile samples from Gabriel.

"With our current Trend Report, we are once again offering designers support with regard to shaping the future," says Markus Frentrop, Global Head of RAL COLOURS Business. "Via the innovative Trendbox, which was created in close cooperation with our cooperation partners, we are also physically expressing this year's theme CARE + COLLABORATE. At the same time, together with other foundation members from the German Design Council, we have succeeded in communicating our close ties to design to the outside world."

With the current edition of RAL COLOUR FEELING, RAL is also continuing its close and long-standing cooperation with the Institute International Trendscouting at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany. Designer Timo Rieke, professor for colour design at the HAWK and design lead of the project, was again interested in developing an application-oriented working tool for designers that differs from other forecasts in showing applications and conveys methods for designing according to people's needs. The report aims to support sustainable design and to be part of the transformative developments of design.

"At the Institute, we are working on making design with colour comprehensible and, as far as possible, scientifically based. We focus on people's needs and explore the interaction between design and perception. Which colour and material combinations have a relaxing effect, which are more stimulating and which colours facilitate communication? From a design perspective, colour has a functional character with an emotional effect that should not be underestimated. Colour and feeling are closely linked," says Timo Rieke.

Further background information on the trend report, press material, suggestions, assistance and professional design tools are available on the RAL COLOURS website.
