New trend palette with 15 inspiring colours
RAL COLOURS presents the trend colours that will shape the future. The new trend report RAL COLOUR FEELING 2027+ presents 15 coordinated colours and offers valuable guidance for architecture, design and industry. The high-contrast palette was developed again this year in close collaboration with the IIT Institute International Trendscouting and is now the seventh edition of RAL COLOURS in cooperation with the colour designers at the University of Hildesheim.
Under the title ENVISION + CRAFT, the diverse collection combines innovative future concepts with precision craftsmanship in its implementation. The colour palette stands for consistency and new beginnings and covers a broad spectrum: from lively to distinctive main tones. Neutral tones form the creative foundation for the design of physical and virtual products, collections and spaces for 2027 and beyond.
What makes the collection special is its careful pre-curation: all 15 colours are coordinated so that they harmonise with each other even in very different work and living situations. This allows for both dynamic contrasts and subtle tone-on-tone compositions. This consistent compatibility of colours greatly facilitates decision-making processes in design and architecture. Planners can concentrate on the conceptual work, while the technical harmony of the colours is guaranteed.
"The methodology is based on systematic trend research," explains the development team. "Through half-yearly trend panels with 20,000 images analysed each time, we have built up a comprehensive database that enables reliable forecasts." The colours were tested not only for their aesthetic effect, but also for material suitability, cultural resonance and longevity.
Leading industry partners have already validated the practical feasibility: Covestro developed corresponding plastic solutions, Gabriel Fabrics translated the palette into textile qualities, Object Carpet curated matching floor coverings and Tiger Coatings realised powder-coated surfaces. This cross-material validation guarantees consistent colour implementation across different substrates.
The accompanying RAL Trendbox brings the concept to life in practical application. The box contains all 15 colours as RAL D6 single sheets, powder-coated metal samples, plastic samples and textile and carpet samples. This haptic component is fundamental to well-considered design decisions.
